My 1 Year Plan

I have made a 1 year plan for myself after University. I hope to end up working as a photo editor at the end of the year in Bristol. I have made a hypothetical plan that is similar to this for my professional contexts work, so I can create a hypothetical business.

Firstly, I will move back in with my parents in Worcester so I can avoid rent costs. I didn’t have a very good maintenance loan at university, so I therefore have £1,500 overdraft. I will then join an agency and look for full-time, temporary work in administration or at a school (as I have some experience working in schools). If I can’t find a job in this area, I have 5 years waitressing and bar experience so I can work in a cafe/restaurant/bar.

While saving money with this job, I plan to pass my driving test. I took about 10 lessons last Summer, so I need to pick this up again, but hopefully learn at a quicker rate, having a few lessons a week. I want to pass my driving test by November.

In December I want to start looking for internships in photo editing, or if I am really lucky I want to look for a job in photo editing. I want to start my search in Bristol as this is close to Bath, I know the city and I have some family in this area. If I gain an internship, I will have some savings to pay for living for the months that I am working.

Hopefully, with this experience, I will find a job in Bristol as a photo editor by July 2018. Obviously this plan works if everything goes perfectly. I know this isn’t for sure, but I am going to keep my head down and be as determined as I can be to follow this. But with some savings from 6 months of work and a driving licence, this will all look a little more realistic than if I jump straight in after graduation.

For my professional contexts Business Plan and financial forecasting, I am going to hypothetically plan to go freelance after my 6 months of saving. I will pitch myself as a freelance photographer and photo editor who works from home, not owning a studio. I can therefore go to the client, I can buy a remote backdrop and work for events without the cost of the studio. For my website, I have called my company 'Ellie Dallimore Photography'. This allows me to show my photography work that I have at the moment, but it is easily adjustable if I wanted to change the website for a different purpose. I have explained more about the logistics of Ellie Dallimore Photography in my business plan.
